6 Steps to Your Heatless Blowout
To achieve the maximum results with our Blowout Babe tool, it's important to follow these steps.
Start With Dry, Pre-Styled Hair
Give yourself a blowout on wash day using your usual tool — a Dyson Airwrap, hot brush, or blow dryer all work. Your hair needs to be fully dry and pre-styled before you roll in the rods.
Roll In Right After Your Blowout, or Revive It Later
Put the rods in straight after your blowout to lock it in overnight, or use them on day 2 or 3 to bring a fading blowout back to life. Brush through your hair first so you don't wake up with frizz, and smooth in a little hair oil before rolling. If your hair struggles to hold a curl, work a good mousse through dry hair before you start.
Find the Grip Side
Always roll with the "grip" side facing in — it's what keeps your curl in place all night. Not sure which side that is? Twist the rod between your fingers: one side feels smooth, the other feels more textured. That textured side should face you as you roll (think of twisting your wrist like you're revving a motorcycle throttle).
Roll In the Rods
Follow the tutorial video above and roll the rods in, section by section.
Protect Your Curls Overnight
Once every rod is secured, wrap your hair in a satin or silk scarf or bonnet to keep your curls smooth and frizz-free while you sleep.
Wake Up to Your Fresh Blowout
Sleep easy — your blowout does the work overnight. In the morning, take the rods out and brush through gently with a wide-tooth comb so you don't loosen the curl too much. Finish with a little hair oil to bring it all together.
Good to Know
Disclaimer: A quick honest note: these rods are designed to prolong and refresh an existing blowout — no heat needed. They're not officially made to create a heatless blowout on naturally straight hair, though some Babes do get great results this way. It really comes down to your hair type and texture, so the straight-hair method won't work the same for everyone.
